The word animation is originated from a Latin word called ‘anima’ which means soul and hence the term Animation can be defined as the process or tool of bringing life to sketches and characters.
So you are the typical back bencher, drawing  and designing the teacher’s face or  scribbling anything that catches your imagination!!  You do not want to get into engineering or medicine…what’s the option? For amateurs and 2D enthusiasts animation is the right choice. Creativity, eye for detail, imagination and a fairly good knowledge in art (drawing) is important to be a good animator. After completing +12 in any stream, apply to an animation institute to learn the basics. There are diploma and degree courses which offer animation courses.
The gaming industry (computer games and mobile games) is expected to grow by leaps and bounds. This fact can only be regarded as tip of the iceberg as numerous avenues are open for skilful animators in many allied fields. Today not only computer games and movies, animation is also used in schools for better teaching. Walt Disney, Sony and numerous gaming industries require good animators. So the field is wide open and jobs are plenty for the creative minds.
