Last month, The Singapore Institute of Technology(SIT) was declared as a local university offering publically funded degree programmes. Now, SIT has signed its first partnership with Glasgow School of Art to offer two new Bachelor of Arts degree in communication design and interior design.
The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is one of Europe’s leading higher education institutions for creative education and research in design, fine art and architecture.
The courses offered are:
1.Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Communication Design
There are three distinct specialisms in Communication Design at the GSA:
- Graphic Design
2. Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Interior Design
These courses are primarily for those who have completed the polytechnic or have industry experience. Unlike their counterparts in Glasgow who have to start in Year 1,students in Singapore will start from Year 3 and graduate with Honours after two years. Undergraduates will also spend time in Glasgow to exchange ideas and concepts.Currently, about 100 undergraduates are pursuing the new degrees. SIT hopes to double this number by 2015.
The fees ranges from: (for 3 semesters per year for 2 years)
Singapore Citizens=$ 3250*6=$19500
Singapore Permanent Residents=$6500*6=$39000
International Students= $8720*6= $52320
